iDVD- End of Year Memories

It's time to import all our iMovies into iDVD!
Each year I make my students a DVD. It's my gift to celebrate our wonderful year!

iDVD is a DVD creation software application made by Apple Inc. for Mac OS X. iDVD allows the user to add QuickTimeMovies, MP3 music, and digital photos to a DVD that can then be played on a commercial DVD player.[1] It is often considered the last step of Apple's iLife suite, bringing together all the other iLife applications' results onto a removable medium. It is comparable to its Microsoft Windows alternative Windows DVD Maker.
Since I am ending the year with MONO, I thought I would skip it this year - BUT GUESS WHAT???????? Just last week, I ran into an old student who is in high school now. Out of the blue he mentioned that he still had my DVD and he loved to watch it!
I better get busy!   I have 24 DVDs to burn!
                 Can't break the tradition now!
I would love to share the final project with you but there are over 15 iMovies- too big to upload!
What do you do to celebrate your year with your students? I'd love to hear your ideas!

Recycled Keyboards- Common Core

I am lucky that my mother-in-law works at the Wyandot County Recycling Center. She is collecting keyboards for my classroom!
10 is a great start so far!

Even though they will not be plugged into computers, we will be using them at workshop time to practice keyboarding skills.
 Common Core-

    Production and Distribution of Writing

Second Grade Common Core = W.2.6. With guidance and support from adults, use a variety of digital tools to produce and publish writing, including in collaboration with peers.

Third Grade Common Core= W.3.6. With guidance and support from adults, use technology to produce and publish writing (using keyboarding skills) as well as to interact and collaborate with others.

Fourth Grade Common Core= W.4.6. With some guidance and support from adults, use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing as well as to interact and collaborate with others; demonstrate sufficient command of keyboarding skills to type a minimum of one page in a single sitting.

Fifth Grade Common Core= W.5.6. With some guidance and support from adults, use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing as well as to interact and collaborate with others; demonstrate sufficient command of keyboarding skills to type a minimum of two pages in a single sitting.

We will practice typing our spelling words.
Anyone else have any great ideas how to use these?
Be the 1st to contact your local recycling center for your own set of keyboards!
I have dibs for Wyandot County, Ohio!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!
http://www.appsgeyser.com/getwidget/Mothers%20Day/
Second Graders create Mother's Day cards using the MOM App on iPod Touches.

1st: Gather pictures for a special project. Some of my students are not permitted to see their mothers so they could chose Dad, Grandma, or Grandpa!
2nd: Scan pictures.
3rd: Email pictures to 20 iPod Touches.
4th: Use the Mother's Day Lite App to create cards.
5th: Export finished cards to Photo Album.
6th: Import pictures to iPhoto.
7th: Put pics on flashdrive & head to Walmart 1 hour photo lab!
(You could use colored printer, but an actual photo for the students seems way cooler to me!)

When the pictures are developed we will write ALL ABOUT OUR MOMS! Here are words that describe our MOMS!

Happy Mother's Day!
